Staged Reading Series

The Weight of Small Things Vol. 2

Stage 4th Society's staged-reading series returns with a new pairing of short plays, bringing together two stories about the lives we are expected to lead and the courage it takes to imagine another path.

J. M. Barrie's The Twelve-Pound Look (1910), localized, adapted, and directed by Calandya Zhang, follows a seemingly successful household unsettled by the unexpected return of a woman who once chose independence over comfort.

George Middleton's Tradition (1913), directed by Wendy Chi Wen-Chieh, brings questions of family, duty, ambition, and personal freedom quietly to the surface as one generation confronts the choices of another.

Presented in Mandarin with English subtitles, this staged reading invites audiences across languages to rediscover these classic short plays in a contemporary context.

Sat, Sep 5 at 3:30 p.m. & 7:00 p.m.
Sun, Sep 20 at 3:30 p.m. & 7:00 p.m.
